International protection is a special form of support that Poland offers to individuals fleeing the risk of persecution, violence, or other serious threats in their country of origin. It may include the right to legal residence, access to medical care and social support, as well as integration services. Poland offers two main types of international protection:
Subsidiary protection — intended for individuals who do not meet the criteria for refugee status but face serious threats such as torture, the death penalty, inhumane treatment, or violence against civilians. Subsidiary protection is often granted in cases where the risk arises due to armed conflict, whether international or internal.
